August 22, 1992 was a momentous event - the historic transfer of power from the Ukrainian National Republic to contemporary Ukraine.
This event is a unique and unprecedented not only in Ukrainian, but also in world history. National Center of UPR in exile, who for 72 years represented Ukraine abroad, had presented attributes of UNR to the renewed Ukraine in which 24 August 1991 restored the state since its independence proclamation of IV Universal of Central Council on 22 January 1918.
    August 22, 1992 DC UNR in exile led by the last President of UNR Nicholas Plawyuk resigned by promulgating on session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine the appropriate certificates and declaration that "proclaimed on August 24 and ratified on December 1, 1991 of the people of Ukraine the Ukrainian State continues a state and national traditions of the UNR and is the successor of the Ukrainian National Republic". These historical documents were signed by the heads of DC UNR in exile: President of UNR Nicholas Plawyuk, Chairman of the "Ukrainian National Council "Mykhaylo Voskobiynyk and Chairman of the Government of the UNR Ivan Samiylenko.

    We Appeals to all national-democratic forces, all socio-political asset of Ukraine, all Ukrainian patriots, all Ukrainians worldwide calling worthily celebrate the 20th anniversary of the epochal events of August 22, 2012:
 
    The new parliament, all new patriotic Ukrainian authorities will restore historical justice to the continuity of Ukrainian state:

1. Counting independent Ukrainian state has to go from January 22, 1918 (the date of proclamation of IV-th Universal).

2. Need an official register of Ukrainian Presidents, from the first President – Mykhaylo Hrushevskyi.
This register must be included Presidents of the Ukrainian National Republic in exile: Symon Petliura, Andriy Livytskyi, Stephan Vytvytskyi, Nicholas Livytskyi, Nicholas Plawyuk.
 
3. For historical contribution to the restoration of Independence of Ukraine President of UNR Nicholas Plawyuk, which is rightly called a symbol of Ukrainian statehood, must be made to the glorious cohort of Heroes of Ukraine.

It will dispel the myth of Ukraine as a "young" independent state and open the way to the real unification of the Ukrainian nation.

Who does not recognize, humiliates or conceals historic event August 22, 1992, may not be in the higher echelons of state power in Ukraine.

Political parties of patriotic direction must to show their national consciousness and national maturity!
